I finally got around to sharing my thoughts on this year’s Realm Makers writers conference and fan expo! As to be expected when a conference expands, there were a few growing pains, but overall I’d say it was a huge success!

Three comments: Track what Merrily knows so far about the last Twyn, and what Cat has told her so far. Track the sizes of the windows earlier. This needs foreshadowing somewhere.
The problem with the later stages of self-editing your novel is that you actually have to follow up on all those "notes to self" from your past self. 😩
I do probably lean more toward Lewis's style - I could never spend 10+ years on one book...
...except that my current WIP is at least that old. I just abandoned it for years in the middle before coming back to it. :P
Reading The Mythmakers by John Hendrix. Gosh, my creative method is stuck halfway between C.S. Lewis's fast-paced, image-based mythos and Tolkien's slow-and-steady, logic-based perfectionism.
Great book, but my head hurts from all this unexpected introspection.😅

Part of the issue is that I originally wrote this story before I had a decent handle on solid story structure, so it was constructed mainly on ✨ViBeS✨
There’s nothing WRONG with vibes, but the story still needs to follow some kind of logical progression for it to resonate.
I never would have guessed that the 6th draft of my novel would require writing this much new stuff from scratch. 😭 Apparently that’s what happens when you realize the main character didn’t have a tangible goal for half the book…

I was gonna say, I’ve worked on action/adventure shows and I WISH we had that many board artists and revisionists! 🤣 Never had more than 1-2 revisionists and it was painful.
Saaaaaaame 🤣 I threw it down so hard (and yet for some reason I continued to devour the rest of the series haha)
Oh my goodness, seeing this cover has yeeted me back to my teenage days when I gobbled up this whole series of massive books and then never opened them again! 🤣
