Newcastle would also be really good - I was supervised by Kim Reynolds at Roehampton, she went on to Newcastle. I don't know if she is still there.

Definitely not the only person - I did a great MA in Children's literature at Roehampton years ago, which looked at it as a part of English literature. Discovered some fascinating unknown authors like Lucy Clifford & wrote a dissertation on the pedagogy of Maria Edgeworth.

The Good Literary Agency founders 'heartbroken' to close agency after funding bid 'fails' The Good Literary Agency (TGLA) will close at the end of March with all staff, including agents, being made redundant.

Shocked at the imminent closure of the Good Agency, and deeply sorry for everyone who's affected. I can't understand what happened. This is a unique, innovative arts business - exactly what we're always being told we should create. www.thebookseller.com/news/the-goo...

In lieu of the recent CLPE report, I’m offering a submissions package review (1st 3 chapters, synopsis & query letter) to an ESEA contemporary MG writer. To apply, please email me a bit about yourself and your MG at lui@lui-land.co.uk by Dec 31, 2024. I’ll choose the recipient in early Jan 2025.

some conversations this morning have me wondering: book folks, what do you wish there were more of in how books are covered? and by that I mean: lists? reviews? columns? themed essays? straight-up recommendations? something else I've never thought of?

Writers of this better place: I’m closing submissions soon but before I do, I’d love some final books to sell! Here’s my #mswl:

High-concept YA - if it includes & addresses untold histories / historically marginalized characters, all the better

YA horror - ALL OF IT

This is crucial work to be carried out long-term, thanks again to CLPE. It's disappointing to see the drop in overall presence of racially minoritised characters - but I'm shocked by the *halving* of books with racially minoritised main characters.
