We’ve been making podcasts about the life of Mary Queen of Scots. I really wish I could play them, they are amazing. Some of them have ‘interviewed’ Mary and said ‘so we’ve not seen you for 500 years, how are you?’ The reply, ‘well I lost my head a bit in the in between time’!

Spent International Women’s Day watching 50 awesome girls play rugby. The joy they get from playing as a team is a wonderful thing.
(It was on a 4G pitch so youngest has just had a very stingy shower!)

I’m on the waiting list to see osteo for hopefully a new one. When I asked the doctor if there was any chance of making it worse, she burst out laughing and said ‘none at all, it’s completely destroyed!’ So that’s good in one way I suppose…!
It was stunning at the top. Had a bit of a moment because I realised I’m right on the edge of my hip letting me do this. I fell coming down and it’s so sore. Hills are a big part of my happy so it’s going to be hard if I have to stop.

Sir Frank Bowling's art work is part of our nursery curriculum. I've just been to see the first public showing of his latest work, Into The Blue. Frank is 92 years old and his work is an inspiration to us. His techniques are open ended and free. Perfect for young learners.

Went up the wee hill (the only place not in the sun!) and caught an amazing view of the Lakes on the way down. Put my fleecy trousers on when we got back to try to signal to my stupid brain that it’s rest time!

My latest article for Educate magazine is all about verse novels. In it, I explore how they can help make reading possible for children who might feel overwhelmed by the amount of text on a page, why they work brilliantly as read-alouds and how they're helpful for developing empathy.
