The weirdest thing about getting old is realizing that you can still ache for a bygone era, even if it felt lonely and bad at the time, and even if you currently have the life you always wanted.

I think I’ve finally accepted this: a lot of people are going to think whatever they want about you. Life and work experience, credentials, your hobbies, your actions. For some folks, nothing trumps their biases and assumptions about you. But it’s a reflection of them rather than a truth about you.
