1265 is the maximum number of hours a teacher can be directed to work. It isn't a target. The closer your contact time with students gets to 1265 the more workload is pushed outside the school day. It must either be protected or reformed to include ALL work. #SaveEducation

36 is a square number.

But depth isn’t bigger numbers, it’s better questions.

List its factors. There are 9.
Try other squares. Always odd amount.
Why? One factor pairs with itself.

Depth comes from exposing structure, not accelerating content.

There are six small pink squares, and a larger tilted purple square which shares ones vertex with the bottom pink square. One vertex of the top pink square lies on the top edge of the purple square. A line from the bottom right vertex of the rightmost pink square makes an unknown angle with the left side of the purple square.

Seven squares. What’s the angle?

No more split attention between listening, copying, and thinking. Everything weaker students need. One place. Full focus. Better learning.

Mathematical Miscellany #101 A compilation of mathematical goodies! It is so important that students check answers for reasonableness, yet they frequently don't. Examiners frequently report that students lose "easy" marks by providing answers that are physically or mathematically impossible. Checking answers can make a difference in students' grades. For example, always sanity-check real-world results. I once had a student calculate an individual’s height as 4 cm.

Nothing improves a school more, for both results and day-to-day well-being, than getting behaviour right. Leaders who neglect behaviour management damage staff, pupils, and the whole culture, and they leave chaos behind them.
