This one, I painted for a tarot deck long ago...

Every year, once and only once, I challenge myself to paint an oversized centerpiece landscape.

I finished this year's painting just last night. Naturally, it features moons, cold water, and many moons.

It's titled 'Mirror of Many Moons.'

Whew...back to smaller things.

Photo of a young screech owl perched on a log, low center of the image. Its eyes are wide open with tiny pupils, mouth agape, as it focuses on a Blue Jay perched just above and slightly out of focus.

A beautiful sight! Almost a half, the Quarter Moon is waxing in the southwest sky tonight. #astronomy #astrophotography @stormhour.com @photohour.bsky.social

Katherine Kean's Blue Grove uses dream inspired imagery that invites viewers into a quiet, contemplative forest scene where the cool blue tones of the trees create a striking contrast against a softly glowing, warm background. At the center, a prominent tree stands tall with thick, textured bark in shades of blue, its bare branches twisting upward and outward in an expressive, almost sculptural way. Surrounding this focal point are slender trees sharing the same cool hue, their leafless forms contributing to a layered depth that feels both receptive and mysterious.
The background’s warm amber light provides a subtle radiance, suggesting the fleeting moments of dawn or dusk. This gentle illumination balances the composition, heightening the contrast between the coolness of the trees and the tranquility of the scene. In the foreground, a lush green field spreads out, sprinkled with delicate, pale round elements - small flowers or softly glowing orbs - that bring a tender, magical touch to the environment, hinting at unseen life and quiet wonder.

Measured at 36 by 48 inches and rendered in oil on linen, this piece captures an atmosphere where natural stillness blends with a dreamlike sense of calm and curiosity. The deliberate interplay of color and form encourages a paused moment of reflection, inviting the viewer to explore the subtle tension between reality and the ethereal within this serene grove. The painting’s gallery wrapped edges are hand painted, and wired with finger friendly wire, ready for hanging.

I've been working with dream inspired imagery again - dream stuff, hinting at unseen life and quiet wonder.

Sunset on Friday 18th December 1908. I have cleaned-up this astounding autochrome photograph of twilight 117 years ago, taken in colour by Julien Gérardin. It is an original colour plate, not colourised.

Socialism is what they called public power.

Socialism is what they called social security.

Socialism is what they called the growth of free and independent labor organizations.

Socialism is their name for almost anything that helps all the people.
