The Last Jedi did such a good job explaining why old guard institutions are not to be trusted in a system inherently broken. Finn being one to start a new 'school' would mean so much with him being intimately familiar with the failings of easily co-opted fascist institutions like he was raised in.
The Last Jedi promised me a democratization of the Force and Finn and Rose causing a revolution by finding the Force in every single put down person in the galaxy and I wanted that so much more than Yet Another Movie About How Important Your Father/Grandfather Was

in fact, most of my short stories that have gotten the most mileage are the stuff I looked at and went "is this too weird for anyone to wanna run?" so I guess the lesson here is BE REALLY GODDAMN WEIRD GUYS IT'S FUN
