An animated "Adventures of Tom Bombadil" short would be so awesome. You could embellish the interactions with Goldberry, Old Man Willow, the badger folk, and the Barrow-wight to give it some more weight. Heck, throw in a cameo from the Man in the Moon, Father Christmas, or Farmer Maggot too.

Not to be nit-picky but Tolkien never said or wrote this. It's a nice quote that sums up some major themes of his work, but it's only from the movies.

Jack Black this. Matt Berry that. The only casting for Tom Bombadil I want is Willem Dafoe. He has the perfect mix of whimsical charm and Lovecraftian dread that Tom deserves. And most importantly, he's just a freaky little guy.

Isildur cuts off and pulls the ring finger of Sauron's gigantic hand. Did Sauron fart?
Back in February 2023, I wrote a thread about the #Tolkien #art of Cor Blok. The idea was to show appreciation for how interpretations of Tolkien's Middle-earth vary and yet are wonderful. I repeat the thread here.

If Andor Season 2 is HALF the quality of Season 1 it will still be at least twice as good as nearly everything else in Star Wars from the last 30 years. I am so stoked for this.

Working on an essay examining the Hobbit through the lens of the Silmarillion rather than the Lord of the Rings. While the tone of these stories makes them feel like polar opposites, they actually share a lot of commonalities in narrative plot and theme.

I've always felt this is a window in Sauron's psychology as well, especially when he first joined Melkor. I like to think Saruman (Curumo) is just echoing a similar scene that played out ages earlier between himself and Mairon.

The people telling us how good generative AI is for us are either people financially invested in generative AI or people interested in not paying writers, editors, artists, communications staff, designers, etc. Maybe we could go ahead and not listen to them.

My criteria for a Christmas movie is it has to be set during the holidays and be about reconnecting with family, finding love, and/or bettering yourself. Die Hard fits ALL of these. Couple that with the Christmas music and myriad of Christmas references and like, of course it is.

Vintage postcard or card design. 'The King of the Holly' sits in a holly bush. He has a long white beard, is dressed in armour and wears a holly crown. Words along the bottom of the card read: 'May Love and Good Fellowship Gladden thy Life!'
