@kenwhite.bsky.social is it good when a judge says this?
The filing just needed a little zhuzhing up.
Nota bene: this is not how any of this works.
reading Hemingway to deploy for a war started by a republican guy is a new type of guy
I emitted a very unbecoming chortle.
Right on cue, it's time to subsidize drivers at non-drivers expense again, as is tradition.
"We took idiosyncratic passages out of context from longer, often challenging works, and asked a supercomputer to render them more palatable in isolation. Which version do you find more palatable in isolation?"
7 year anniversary of making Jerry Falwell Jr big mad.
(but if you see any personal threats directed at me, feel free to send me screenshots so my lawyers and I can keep them on file, and relevant authorities can be notified.
My signal is in my bio and I'll be up rooting for para ice hockey tomorrow morning. Thanks!)
Really puts the lead in leading
This is very important and a major pet peeve of mine. If you donβt know what youβre doing- and if you learned on the internet, then sorry, you donβt know what youβre doing- please leave old gravestones well enough alone.
My car is 4 bikes in a trenchcoat. One of them is an ebike. Sometimes I want to ride up hills under my own power and sometimes the ebike is the thing that removes all the excuses for avoiding some errand or task or activity.
The e-assist is for "executive function".
AI is even ruining dioramas now?? Is nothing sacred???
I thought that if you hurt somebody, especially if you kill their family, they just roll over and do whatever you want? Weird. Anyway, time to watch my favourite films: John Wick, Taken, Nobody, Kill Bill, Blue Ruin, Oldboy, The Equalizer, History of Violence, Mandy, I Saw the Devil (Thread 1/58)
So too with a painting. The little fucking information plaque in the museum is an extraordinarily powerful tool.
"No one wrote this." "No one painted this."
Ok then it is nothing.
There are pieces of writing that stand on their own without any external information, but there's a reason when we read poetry, for example, we want to know when it was written and by whom? Where was it written? What were the circumstances of their life at time? And their country or city?
The Iranian womenβs soccer team is in danger, and many are asking Australia to give them shelter to save them from detention and potential execution in Iran for the crime of not singing the national anthem before one of their matches. What a sequence of words to have to write.
this is just true.
for now. Jewish groups should rally to pressure for censure and expulsion for Ogles because it's the right thing to do in the face of bigotry. But if that's not good enough for you, recognize it'll be us next.
Bullying works and lmao waffles, but also boy howdy, we better start collectively preparing to abandon this place for someplace else soon bc a vulture capitalist is going to make it a living hell
(or rather, the *result* of the intentional decision)
Sorry, yeah, I'm being exceedingly unclear. The "doing" as I'm thinking of it is the intentional decision to *do*, and the activity is what is done.
(I'm working off of ritual theorists like Bell and Bourdieu and affect theorists like Ahmed and Supp-Montgomerie)
Maybe or? Oh! Better than my first definition: internal affect (action) vs more explicitly external (activity).
"Jews don't belong in American society."
Imagine a sitting member of Congress tweeting that. You can't. Thankfully, it'd never happen. And *if* it did, it'd be the end of their career and the biggest story in America.
But Ogles can say this about Muslims without any censure.
Ritual studies hat on: an action is the "doing" whereas an activity is what you might do. So both are nouns but the second is more discretely conceived than the first.
It sucks so much! Kind of wishing I didn't have eyeballs right now.
It's above freezing in Ottawa, so naturally my immune system has decided that the air is now made of poison and my entire body is a gd disaster.
Can I just sleep until the mold spores are gone?
