4-panel vertical comic. (1) 100 Years Ago [two people standing next to bicycle with small car nearby] PERSON 1: It’s too dangerous riding a bike with these cars around. I should get a car, too. (2) 50 Years Ago [two people between smaller car and bigger car] PERSON 2 with short hair: Small cars are less safe in collisions with larger vehicles, so I should get a bigger one. (3) Today [two people between big car and even bigger car] PERSON 1: Everyone has huge SUVs now. If I don’t get the biggest one, I’m putting my family at risk. (4) Soon [two people next to large armored car with spiked clubs attached] PERSON 2: If I don’t install more whirling spike clubs, I’ll be destroyed by all the other drivers who...

A portion of every dollar spent on Harry Potter merchandise goes to anti-transgender campaigns.
Scotland’s leading academic on refugees warns that British political rhetoric is taking the UK ‘into the foothills of genocide’
Professor Alison Phipps, Unesco chair in refugee integration at Glasgow University, says demonisation will end in deaths

The most successful propaganda in the last 50 years is evangelicals replacing the self-explanatory term "anti-abortion" with the vague "pro-life" and getting EVERYONE to go along with it.
Hundreds sit on the ground in Parliament Square with Big Ben in the background. They are holding placards which read “I oppose genocide. I support Palestine Action”
According to Keir Starmer, Yvette Cooper and the Met Police, this was the largest, co-ordinated terrorist incident in UK history.

Ian Dunt is turning into a real trans ally, this article describes the likely stitch-up of how Starmer and Philippson are likely to take away all trans people’s human rights without a debate or vote in parliament.
I saw like 30 seconds later and as someone from a major apple producing region I can just shake my head in bitter disappointment
I was about to get horribly offended at this incredible slight against all the great Apple products like apple pie, apple turnovers, apple jam, etc. ...then I realised you meant the tech company
It was also especially nice to be graduating alongside my BISA-buddy and generally awesome person @lindseygarnerknapp.bsky.social 😊
Miklas wearing a black and red robe and holding a bouquet of flowers and a degree certificate standing in front of a red background with the words "The University of Edinburgh, Class of 2025"
So, apparently I'm a doctor now? 😱
It's been an amazing journey and even with all the stress and hardships of academic life it has ultimately given me so much joy. I've met so many brilliant and wonderful people in these last few years and I'm already excited (if a little scared) about what's next!
I vaguely remember a suggestion to stop the clock and reduce playtime to 80 minutes.
On LBC @zoejardiniere.bsky.social lists 3 previous instances where military aircraft have been targeted by campaigners in order to prevent them being used in war crimes, and she describes the govt banning Palestine Action as terrorists as an abuse of state power.
Well said.
I thought this can't possibly be real and yet it somehow is
There is no separating the art from the artist. If you buy Harry Potter shit, you are funding transphobic campaigning. It’s that simple.
Graphic with pink to blue background. In the top right is a box that says 'Stand with Trans people'. There is a trans symbol underneath it. On the left is an illustration of three envelopes. Underneath is a box that says 'Contact your representatives now and raise your voice against the Supreme Court ruling!' The scottish trans and equality network logos are in the bottom right.
Ou representatives need to hear from everyone, both trans people and our allies, that trans people are welcomed and wanted in our communities. Please use your voice now and use our simple email form to contact your MP and MSPs. www.equality-network.org/make-your-vo...

Great summary of the bizarre to outright disgusting debate following the Equality Minister's statement to parliament regarding the Wednesday supreme court ruling
With its coverage in the last few days, the Telegraph has now passed 500 articles attacking trans people since I began tracking their print edition on 16 April 2024.
508 in 371 days.

Without wanting to appropriate another group's liberation struggle, I finally feel like I emotionally understand what MLK meant when he said that white moderates are the biggest enemy of racial equality, the current Labour/Guardian/EHCR ilk seems to have similar vibes honestly
What I hate most about the current assault on trans rights is not just the content itself, but the disgusting hypocrisy of all the people cheering this on while making sympathetic noises about how they are oh so concerned about our rights. It is insulting, it is shamefully false, it is vile.
If you've been feeling gutted after the judgement like I was, then now is the time to start doing things!
This is your ongoing reminder that anti-migrant (“illegals”) and anti-trans politics (“gender ideology”) are current anchors of several authoritarian governments. People who tolerate, even selectively, such politics are facilitating the rise of fascism. This is why solidarity is key to oppose this.
"It would create heterogeneous groupings" So does classifying people by so-called biological sex. So will any attempt to classify humans into two sex categories. The heterogeneity is a genuine unavoidable fact of human experience, not something to be avoided by drawing the line in the right place.
