Once again the tiny dinosaur who lives in my house dictates how I operate. (The sleeping turtle gave me this face when I turned on the light and accidentally woke him up, so I made my midnight snack in the dark)
Someone has sure already made this observation but the fact they can convert all those empty warehouses into prison camps means they could have converted them into housing, community centers, job training centers or, hell, libraries or schools all along. It’s always a matter of will not resources.
I'm now accepting letters of apology from any art teacher who ever told me that drawing in an anime style wasn't valid and would go nowhere. I just watched a medication ad that was fully drawn and animated in anime style. A whole commercial. For medication. On tv. In America.

If I ever had stupid amounts of money to blow on frivolous things, there are so many pieces of Olympic memorabilia that I'd want to buy. Alas, I don't see myself ever being in possession of thousands of dollars to collect those things with, so my little mental display shelf will have to suffice. 🥲
The use of generative AI is doubly a slap in the face since they had a part of the show that included the line "I want to protect and care for it [the Earth] with all my might."
You cannot care for the Earth and then use a machine that guzzles as many resources as gen AI does. Do better.
Extremely disappointed that the Olympic opening ceremony just had an AI slop section. I was literally sitting here appreciating how they HADN'T done that. I'm so bummed and disgusted.
I would try to tell these people not to do it, but those who are participating are the kind of folks that I doubt would listen or care, or would just be like "Whatever, it's just fun!"
Environmental impacts aside, does it not creep them out that GPT knows so much about them in the first place?!
AI images in general already make my skin crawl, but there's something about the AI caricature trend infecting my normie fb friends currently that viscerally disguts me more than usual. It feels insidious and the images are more ugly and uncanny than normal and just... EUGH.
