I think every single day about “The ships hung in the sky in much the same way that bricks don’t.”
@tamsynelle
Writer of words, sometimes correctly spelled. Reflections on pop culture and life from a girl who will soon exist (trans, de-closeting IRL This Summer) Follows are not endorsements. De-escalate all conflict that isn't with the enemy.
I think every single day about “The ships hung in the sky in much the same way that bricks don’t.”
While there are a bunch of transphobic liberals I think a lot of them are less "we must exterminate the trannies" and more "if we allow/help the conservatives to exterminate these weirdos they will lose them as a weapon against us and we can get back to normal politics" and they're just as dangerous
So we can just have an extra half hour's lie-in one day every month. Let's go for the third Tuesday night of the month, Tuesdays are always miserable.
So let's instead abolish leap years (your birthdays can be reassigned, chill) and just split the 24 hours of backward slippage over the course of the full four years. So 24 hours to make up over 48 months means half an hour of clock going back per month.
You might complain "but the day will end up completely out of sync with the sun!".
To which I say, so what.
But also we already end up horribly out of sync anyway, over the course of a four year cycle, because of the year being 365.24 days long, and we only fix it once every four years!
Wait, I can fix daylight savings.
We all hate the bit where you lose an hour by springing forward, but the night where you get an extra hour in bed when we 'fall back' (or for the British, "autumnambulate") is a highlight of the year.
So what if you only turned the clocks back?
7/x And ultimately, all of this is because the idea of a multiracial working class united by class consciousness is a religious viewpoint held by a lot of leftists as deeply as evangelicals hold apocalyptic millenarianism. It's like critiquing what an evangelical views as a sign of the second coming
The only thing I can really think of for why Ryan Grim is so desperate for Graham Platner is, I believe, the same reason why there was a massive orgiastic rush of anger about critiquing Joe Rogan when he said one nice thing about Bernie. They want there to be a right-wing-white-male to left pipeline
You are doing the goddess's work on this Earth. Whichever goddess you like!
in the store just now and there was a couple looking at those prepped toddler meals and he was saying “everything’s better if you just cook from scratch” and she goes “they don’t look bad and they’d save me so much time” and he just kept repeating “it’s better if you cook”
I did not commit a crime
The thing about all these freak AI execs constantly going "our machine may have gained sentience?!" is that they want slaves. That they are ok with slave labor.
And *then* it always, always turns out their latest AI trick actually used slave labor somewhere in the global south.
They're slavers.
Twat dooming Reform? (4,7)
not that long ago (late 2010s), I had a single file on my computer called "bathroom bills" chronicling a handful of US states that forwarded anti-trans legislation. today, the file is renamed "anti-trans-LGBTQ legislation & politics" & it has 900 items in it. it only covers the tip of the iceberg...
If Reform win this by-election Labour are gonna get so much worse. If the Greens win Labour are gonna get so much worse. If Labour win, Labour are gonna get so much worse
If you have the means, please donate to the Trans Continental Pipeline right now. They are a Colorado based org that helps trans people relocate and they are overwhelmed with requests. Colorado borders Kansas, and TCP has the infrastructure to help get people out.

being trans online is like [posts a silly joke] [sees news abt government trying to exterminate us] [like funny post by trans friend] [more news about gov wanting us dead] [repost funny joke] [trans friend shares horrible news about insurance issues/sexual violence/abusive family] [sees funny post]
CW: transphobia.
See, this is why it can be painful to know too much history.🫤
This post implies that what is happening in Kansas is *similar* to what the nazis did.
But it's not just similar. It's *identical*.
In 1933, nazis revoked trans people's documents. Before 1938.
Paragraph 175 and 183.
Ways in which being trans fem and a vampire overlap:
1. I'm simultaneously seen as alluring and repulsive
2. I possess the weariness of many decades yet am also perpetually childlike
3. People are absolutely terrified that I will make more of me
Discernible among my friends and colleagues who remain heavy X users: affects both their sense of issue salience and the intellectual framework (i.e., usually race and migration) through which to understand them. Many think themselves exempt through critical thinking skills. You are what you eat!
Brainwashing, 2026 edition. This paper shows how X's algorithmic feed shifts people's views rightwards. It's a sophisticated, highly effective form of reorientation. And it is utterly chilling.
If you're still on that platform, unhook yourself now.

Oh absolutely she did, yeah. That bit and the chapter about doctors diagnosing us with their boners might be the single most important parts of Whipping Girl to me.
The AI personal assistant as a kind of digital Downton Abbey fantasy.
I increasingly think that some of the fervour about having a big group of "AI agents" who act on your behalf stems from a desire on the part of AI techbros to hark back to an era where you could have servants and it was okay to order them around and have them dress you and stuff
Which is to say, I'm endlessly grateful for them and for you.
I cite it and the couple others in this series about once every two weeks in trans communities I am in. It's such an important resource, and dose of levity, to people in a very frustrating set of situations that recur forever amongst those like us.
yes, the wheels of justice are slow. agonizingly, excruciatingly slow. and oftentimes they miss or go off the tracks entirely. in fact most of the time. but occasionally, very infrequently, that big wheel of justice delivers theoretical remuneration for a handful of vested business interests

"followed by eighteen months of wearing lavender and smiling wanly at box socials. "
(This last part in particular always comes to mind whenever someone's relatives seem to express how hard transition is on them; I giggle to myself about the New Pronoun Remembering Mines.)
"It does not take a great deal of work to wrap one’s head around, does not require months of relentless mental training in the New Pronoun Remembering Mines, does not require a year of full mourning followed by two years of half-mourning....
"Treating transition as a loss is entirely optional, and therein lies the great truth that all these glacial-pacers are frantic to avoid: Transition is fine, and does not actually require much in the way of adjustment.
