Toronto Bike Show 2026
Just a few pictures from the Toronto Bike Show. As others have indicated, the show has really gotten less interesting over the years, and comparatively few dealers show up to sell off old stock. It was really noticeable that any space vacated by regular bike dealers was…
3rd Annual Vintage MTB Show
The 3rd annual Vintage Mountain Bike Show is running again this weekend, out of a section of a building behind Bloor Brothers Brewing. This show is presented by Gremlins Bicycle Emporium (London) and Boneshaker MTB. I enjoyed seeing all the bikes last year, and this…
Coldest Day of the Year Ride 2026
Today was the annual Coldest Day of the Year Ride, organized by Cycle Toronto, with support from the City of Toronto and Toronto Bike Share. Given that it was on the last day in February, it wasn't the coldest day of the year thus far, but no one was complaining…
Thanks @cycletoronto.bsky.social for organizing today's "Coldest Day of the Year" Ride on such a nice, sunny day. youtu.be/SBQpTIinxfg

RIP Giorgio Mammoliti
Former City Councillor Giorgio Mammoliti passed away yesterday at the age of 64. He was an ally of Rob Ford and was passionate about his opposition to bike lanes. He was certainly one of the more colourful characters in his time at City Council, taking positions such as…
A picture showing the construction closure just east of the GO line and Railpath bridge.
A picture showing the construction closure just east of Edwin, and you can see some excavation for sewer work off in the distance.
It used to be said that Toronto has only two seasons—winter and construction— but now we are clearly seeing an overlap. Dupont is closed in both directions just east of Edwin, including the bike lanes. Note that there is an open trench on the south side sidewalk as well.

a picture of a grandfather decorating a ghost bike for his grandson. Toronto, 2017
We have several in Toronto, including one installed in 2017. That's the grandfather that was riding with his grandson.
oops
Impressive, but it goes to show that affluent areas of the city get the nicest things.
Old Man Winter is not giving up
Mother Nature didn't see fit to give us more than a couple of days with relatively streets and bike lanes. Although the worst didn't come to pass downtown over the past 24 hours, there was a lot of sleet and wet snow overnight. The bike lanes between Lansdowne and…

Bloor bike lanes again
With all the melting back over the past couple of days, the Bloor bike lanes between Lansdowne and Avenue are in much better shape. In addition, we were told that the city is trying out some new equipment more suited to clearing the bike lanes. Here is the view at Shaw,…
This I can get behind.
Valentine’s Day bike lane maintenance
TCBC put out another call for volunteers to clear bike lanes today. There were two crews at work. The larger downtown crew tackled the bike lanes between Bathurst and Manning. Here are some pictures from Joey and Albert. Photo: Joey Schwartz Albert Koehl…
The F appears several other places on the wall, but the signage is interrupted by many screens for ads.
a picture of Forest Hill station on the new Eglinton LRT, where I am complaining about the inconsistency in fonts.
Not loving the clash of fonts in this picture. Note in particular that the large station name mimics the subway font, but the R is not consistent. It is helpful to have the street names below the station name, although I was amused that they did the same thing at Caledonia Station. #EglintonLRT
Line 5 is open!
The Eglinton Crosstown AKA Line 5 finally opened today, after 15 long years since the groundbreaking back in Nov 2011. I decided to check it out from the western terminus at Mt. Dennis station. The fastest way for me to get up there was by riding to the Bloor UP/GO station, and…
The line to get on line 5 is long.
15 year blog anniversary
This blog started with this post 15 years ago, on a morning that was apparently warmer than today. (It's -19°C right now) Taking a look back, you can see that the traffic on this blog has ebbed and flowed, but is probably on a downward trend. This is perhaps because I…
