My colleagues at ACRLog wrote short tributes to the life and work of Fobazi Ettarh @fobettarh.bsky.social. I wrote about her work on disability, which I think deserves more recognition. acrlog.org/2026/03/04/t...
Thanks @ezerrenner.bsky.social for coordinating. #CripLib #VocationalAwe
βWe donβt know if there will be a happy resolution to the problems plaguing our country, and we canβt skip ahead to find out. But I believe if we support and uplift librarians, there will be more sunlight for all of us.β @thelibrariansfilm.bsky.social

Iβd love to talk to Elmo about intellectual freedom.
βThe librarians featured in this film are not symbols. They are real people who have endured harassment, retaliation, defamation, and loss for doing their jobs ethically.β
What a terrible loss. She has touched so many of us, and we will all cherish her many contributions to the professional lives of library workers and beyond.
Oh my gosh yes!!!!
Absolutely no worries! I donβt care about that at all! β€οΈ I am very glad people are cognizant of these connections - the issue is for all of us to define and face together, which is both difficult and galvanizing.
I hate that this is all the more timely now, years after it was first written.
Love the quote on the shirt! π

Text in graphic reads: "Book Bans Wrapped: ALA, Book Riot, Florida Freedom to Read Project, PEN America, and Texas Freedom to Read Project are sounding the alarm: CENSORSHIP IS ON THE RISE" Large stylized "2025" at bottom of image.
ALA, @bookriot.bsky.social, @penamerica.bsky.social, @flfreedomread.bsky.social, @txfreedomread.bsky.social all track different aspects of the movement - no matter how you look at it, book bans are sweeping across the country. Don't miss our joint report: https://bit.ly/4qkTZh5
Libraries are valued and treasured community goods and cornerstones of democracy, and library workers are dedicated civil servants and experts.
ALAβs OIF is debunking the lies book banners tell about libraries.

βAuthoritarians gain power when citizens stop paying attention. Visit your local library, check out books, and keep reading. If we stay unified and informed, we can ensure reading w/out restriction remains the foundation of our democracy and a fundamental freedom for all.β

ALA is proud to join @PENamerica & dozens of @UAbookbans partners on a letter to the TN Secretary of State, whose call for TN libraries to review materials within 60 days "has created widespread confusion,Β fear and operational disruption across the state's public libraries."Β

From left: Kellye Crocker, David Levithan, Joanna Ho, Maggie Tokuda-Hall, Samira Ahmed, Gayle Forman, and Randy Ribay at the ALAN award breakfast. We all look great.
On Saturday, @authorsabb.bsky.social won the ALAN Award at @ncte.org, and I was honored to accept it on our behalf.
This is the speech I gave.

Oh no! Iβm sending all of my healing energy Alanβs way!
I got my $1 and my apology. I met falsehood with resolve, and I claimed my own voice by defending it.
And in that single dollar, my truth stands taller than every lie told. Let it be known: I will never back down.

No one can own the law - Bob Ambrogi gives us summaries of the many (!) amicus briefs filed in support of access to legal information in the ROSS Intelligence litigation with Thomson Reuters as it heads to the Third Circuit.

I can't keep the thread up, but suffice to say, PEOPLE VOTED TO PROTECT AND FUND LIBRARIES AND SO MANY SCHOOL BOARD ELECTIONS SUPPORTED PRO-EDUCATION, PRO-STUDENT CANDIDATES.
People showed up. They didn't just buy banned books. They VOTED.
And guess what?
Voting made a difference.

Iβve always wanted to be a part of this and would be so sad if it ended! I love the mass Thriller dance!
