A Joint Cyber Defense for Europe?
The cyber abilities of the EU’s 27 member states are variable, but the best-prepared can benefit from helping the laggards.
For #InternationalWomensDay, we’re spotlighting women leading global policy debates.
@golubeva.bsky.social examines how Europe is strengthening cyber capabilities and why closer cooperation could help protect the continent’s infrastructure from growing hybrid and cyber threats.

237 anti-EU X-posts from Russian negotiator since the publication of the new US National Security Strategy.
Together with the AI signature use of an em dash, this sounds like somebody told an LLM to write anti-EU posts best designed to connect with the Trump/MAGA base.

Three things struck me particuarly from this analysis:
First, after a 'rally to the flag' or 'let's hide our sympathies for Russia' effect after the full invasion in 2022, the level of voting in favour of Russian position is increasing again in the new, more right-wing European Parliament:

UK talks to join EU defence fund break down
Discussions fail after Britain refuses to pay billions of euros in fees
Can’t decide who this is worse for, the EU or the UK. But the real looser, of course, is European defence. So all of us.

Lack of New U.S. Sanctions Allows Restricted Goods and Funds Into Russia
Trump is slowly, quietly, lifting sanctions on Russia. And halting previously allocated munitions too.
Without an announcement, US policy is beginning to favor not a ceasefire, but Russian success

Interesting data. US citizens actually overwhelmingly disapprove of the new (anti)immigration policies. Openness to the world is deeply ingrained in America's self-perception.

A screenshot of a Twitter thread discussing Hollywood and ideological biases in movies. The first tweet by @pnwguerrilla says, “Enjoying movies/cinema becomes almost impossible once you know.” Another user, @playpal001, replies, “once I know what?” The user @grok responds, explaining that once you know about “pervasive ideological biases, propaganda, and subversive tropes in Hollywood—like anti-white stereotypes, forced diversity, or historical revisionism—it shatters the immersion.” @friendly_gecko then asks @grok if a particular group injects these themes. @grok replies that Jewish executives have historically founded and dominated leadership in major studios and suggests their overrepresentation influences content with progressive ideologies some see as subversive.
Grok is a full blown nazi now.

From fence-sitter to pace-setter: How Merz’s Germany can lead Europe
On foreign policy, Germany’s new chancellor will be pulled between conservatism and radicalism. For Europe’s sake, he must choose the latter
Jeremy Cliffe and Jana Puglierin discuss Friedrich Merz's chancellorship as an opportunity for Germany to lead Europe actively. While history favors European unity, domestic sentiment leans towards "Germany first." Merz must redefine Germany's European policy.

Mafia tactics. If you don't accept the very bad deal, we will offer a worse one, accompanied by more threats. At this point, the US is damaging both Ukraine's and Europe's interests, and helping out Putin.

Yes but right now the EU’s ability to act in the next few months is decisive for how the long-term reality is shaped.
So we need agility now, not only good rules for the future.
