I feel that way about a lot of my old stuff. I give myself a little grace because I understand that I had all this creative energy and was dying to put something out there. I think it’s also part of the learning process, right? The fact that we look negatively on it now shows how much we have grown.

I feel your pain. I absolutely refuse to reread my stuff from more than 10 years ago. I keep thinking about a western that I wrote that I was super proud of at the time, but now the Native American character just feels like a walking indictment of my ignorance.

Those super sparks are such a higher grade of experience, I just never want anyone to settle for less ever again.

We opened our marriage a few years ago and dating women again has been interesting. There’s plenty of people I get along with but that spark? That connection that just runs deep like something cosmic is happening between us? When I encounter it, it really puts things into perspective.

My 18th read of 2026 is Moonslave by Bruce McLachlan. Shamelessly stealing from the world of darkness, role-playing games, this book is a delightful sequel. Vampires are never my first choice, but this BDSM mixture of vampires, werewolves, and wizards was a joy.
