Gosh I love London Thursday matinees, so I get to catch up with Starlight Express at the specially designed Starlight Auditorium at Troubador Wembley Park Theatre and with Evan Taylor Benyacar roller-skating his caboose off. Such a fun time!
Two incredibly different but absolutely memorable London shows today, one in a great “fabulous performances” way, one in a mouth agape “I don’t think I should be laughing right now. Or maybe I should??” way. All My Sons dir by Ivo Van Hove and American Psycho the Musical.
That was quite the elaborate workshop production of new fully sung-through musical Midnight, but I shouldn’t be surprised since it was written, directed and choreographed by Todrick Hall. Lots of potential here and hope to see it again in its full Premiere production.
Well Paddington the Musical really is one of the best family musicals I’ve seen! Will be interesting to see how other theatres pull off the Paddington character, but this original London West End production is wonderful.

Well, I’d tell you to immediately book tickets for Rose Napoli and Suzy Wilde’s beautiful new musical AFTER THE RAIN at NAC, but it’s totally sold out! So fingers crossed that co-producers Musical Stage Co and Tarragon Theatre figure out a way to remount this fabulous production somehow somewhere.
So excited for opening night of the NAC updated revival of Rose Napoli & Suzy Wilde’s musical After The Rain, directed by Marie Farsi, starring Chilina Kennedy, Annika Tupper, Joe Bowden, Steve Maloney, Andrew Penner, Shaemus Swets. Happy Lunar New Year, and specifically the Year of the Fire Horse in Chinese Zodiac. The last Year of the Fire Horse was the year I was born, so I think this is supposed to be a year that is both auspicious and challenging, bringing about major changes that inspire new growth. I’ll take it!
