March’s feast days continue - today is the Feast of St Constantine, a King of Kernow 〓〓 who gave up his throne, travelled to Ireland 🇮🇪 thence to Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 and is remembered in Wales 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 The feast was marked in St Merryn by eating limpet pies, holding a church service and having a hurling match.

On this day in 1999, South Crofty closed, ending 4,000 years of tin working in Kernow. The preceding day had seen very limited celebrations of St Piran.

Today, South Crofty is returning to tin production and yesterday marked the largest celebration yet of St Piran.

We’m comin back me ansomes!

Today is marked by some as the Feast of Sen Non - mother of Sen Dewi (David). Born in Cymru 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 Non was raped and conceived her son. She later travelled to Kernow 〓〓 being remembered at Altarnun, and Breizh ➕where she is believed to have died.

On this day in 1799, former West African slave Joseph Emidy was set free from the Royal Navy in Falmouth after being forced to serve aboard HMS Indefatigable for four years. He remained in Kernow, married a Cornishwoman and went on to lead the Truro Philharmonic Orchestra
