Urge Scottish Borders Council to Retain Core Funding for Eastgate Theatre Can you spare a minute to help this campaign?

The Eastgate Theatre in Peebles is a gem & does so much to promote the arts. Outrageously, its core state funding is ending. Petition belowπŸ‘‡

PS, @angusrobertson.bsky.social, please make good on your pledge that β€œScotland’s arts and culture are at the very soul of our nation"...

A copy of the 1992 Penguin paperback edition of O Caledonia by Elspeth Barker. The cover art, by Mark Edwards, depicts a girl with long black hair standing beneath dark clouds. She is wearing a plain white shirt and holding a crow in one hand and a pitchfork with a frog impaled on one of its tines in the other.

"Vera had also noticed the purple dress; it was uniquely hideous, festooned with massive bows and encumbered by a bizarre scalloped train like a dragon's tail. It might be worn with panache by a mad old person whose brain had been jumbled by hunting accidents...but by a young girl never."

This is probably the most important domestic political story at the moment. Gilt yields being this high is going to kill the already shaky public finances. It risks making an already difficult spending review impossible.

Both my kids have benefitted/are benefitting from being able to study Latin because of ISSP - a partnership between York state and private schools. Access to Latin/classics shouldn’t be just restricted to those who can pay for it.
