#SOBP25 was great fun and easily one of the best conferences in the last years - so happy to catch up with friends and colleagues and speak also on my favorite brain region: the cerebellum! 🩵
Our new paper is out. We point out that large brained (and often smart) mammals and birds have evolved very different distribution of neurons numbers in the brain.
This means that similar cognitive abilities have evolved in very different brains.

It’s really heart breaking to realize just how much our short horizon, outcome focused funding cycles hurt science. We could do so much more if we could invest in people long term. Staff scientist positions and an ecosystem to support them are direly needed.
