Playing a few 45s has, as ever, awakened the crate-digging urge, so it’s (I can’t believe I’m saying this) a good job I’m going to the dentist tomorrow, I can go into town after and have a good rummage.

Ha, I’ve been there.
Doubt I’ll get them quite as cheap as these ones, mind - pretty sure all or most of these are from the frabjous day the RSPCA shop in Alnwick had a box of singles at 20p each.

Four 45rpm Georgie Fame/Georgie Fame and The Blue Flames singles in mismatched sleeves laid out in a square on a rug: In The Meantime/Telegram The Ballad Of Bonnie and Clyde/Beware Of The Dog Somebody Stole My Thunder/Entertaining Mr. Sloane Sunny/Don’t Make Promises
Been listening to my entire Georgie Fame collection. I really need more Georgie Fame.

‘Haddaway and shite’ is only three words. The economical approach.
Both great sides, but skip to about 2:31 if you’re wishing this sunny afternoon was a rainy night. You can practically smell the whisky and cigarette smoke.

Even my cat thinks I’m boring.
I’m still not over seemingly being a nerd *by the standards of fucking Only Connect.* I don’t even mention the catalogue numbers of the records I play on shows, c’mon. Though I could tell you where/when/for how much I bought most records I own, come to think of it…

Apparently the OP has both replied and blocked me, which seems a bit of an overreaction. It was a post asking (in essence) ‘did you know that in the Victorian era, children were told not to pull faces or their faces might stay like that?’.
Welcome to today’s episode of Am I An Alien?, essentially.
Obviously I file my LPs and CDs alphabetically by artist name/surname if solo artist, then chronologically within artist, like a sane person, but it baffled me that anyone wouldn’t know which year each album they own came out, at least within about three years, max.

Catching up on the last series of Only Connect, and there’s a contestant who files their CDs chronologically, and the reaction was ‘but wouldn’t you have to know (roughly) which year each album was released to find it?’ like that’s not…normal to know? IS that not normal to know?

‘The wind’ll change, you’ll stay that way’ is something literally every adult I knew as a child said to me at some point. Wasn’t aware I grew up in the Victorian era.
I’d maybe not recommend this if you’re already in a shit mood (unless you want to wallow in it), but what a record, man.

No worries - it’s a fair exchange really, since, although I love reggae, my knowledge of it is pretty spotty, which your posts are continually helping to rectify.
It’s worth noting that this thread really is just scratching the surface - there are SO many more great female rock’n’roll artists and records, and I hope it’s encouraged you to dig a little deeper and discover some more for yourself.
