What's your favorite writing craft book? I've spent ages with The Winning Brief by Bryan A. Garner, which is less applicable now that I'm writing fiction but still has great insights. Since turning to fiction, it's been Save the Cat Writes a Novel by Jessica Brody and Refuse to Be Done by Matt Bell.

I never learned French so much as I learned how to shout out foods that I would like to eat in French at a restaurant, say merci several times, and then just sort of hope that someone might bring something vaguely like it to me.
