⚖️AA Smith v. Allwright (1944) finally ruled these primaries unconstitutional, but real enforcement wouldn't arrive until the Voting Rights Act of 1965.
📚History reminds us: voter suppression was built into the system-and dismantling it took relentless pressure, lawsuits, and organizing.
