I also went to church every Sunday with my mom up until university. Then I realized Jesus sounded a lot like the cult leaders that were in the news (e.g., Waco). How do you know which one is crazy and which one is the son of God? I couldnβt take it seriously anymore.

Requiem
And if youβd like a view into what X-Philes thought of βRequiemβ in 2000, I dug up the review I wrote at age 19. Like Jenn, I was quite shocked by the pregnancy announcement. I really didnβt see it coming! geocities.restorativland.org/Area51/Caver...

Mulderβs final scene in Requiem reminds me a bit of the end of βClosure,β and could have been a serene ending for him without the ABHβs appearance. As you say, it really changes the mood.

I like to watch the Pilot and Requiem back to back - they are such nice book ends! I too thought Jenn was crazy when she suggested this as her favorite series finale, but I think I would put it right behind βExistenceβ now.

Random question, but what does the subscripted 8 after βFOβ stand for? I found an explanation for the rest of the old name, but the extra number remained elusive.

The Core

I simultaneously love The Core, and had an amazing time criticizing its science. Fun fact - I interrupted them filming the classroom scene trying to get to the computer lab at UBC. podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/p...

My office floor is made of concrete, as if it didnβt want us to lay face down, so I brought in a camping pad for this express purpose.

Yeah, Girl Guides has really evolved with the times in a positive way. I was a leader for the past six years, and we had a meeting on what it means to be LGBTQ+, where we invited a drag queen. We participated in several Pride parades and one of our kids was openly non-binary.

Yeah, I just came to chime in that this is one of my favorite Season 9 episodes. I thought Robert Patrick nailed the scene where he remembers that his son is dead. It is heartbreaking and very real.

I had never studied severe weather before (or written a purely "terrestrial" paper), so I reached out to the Severe Storms Lab. They introduced me to Sophia Slabon, a bright undergraduate student in Geography, and Dr. Connell Miller.

A year and a half ago, I attended an Earth Observation workshop sponsored by @westernuspace.bsky.social. There was a talk about tornadoes that got me thinking - could we detect and characterize tornado tracks with synthetic aperture radar?
