You don’t really need a budget to do indie animation, the problem is “indie animation” has been reduced to bigger budget/studio works with insane frame-by-frame animation, a big crew/voice cast and a merch line instead of scrappy shit you make in a week by yourself or with some friends in Flash.

Panel 1: Caleb and Anna are at the beach, Anna is lounging back in a beach chair. "Yo, Caleb, don't swim in the water. I hear it's quite acidic, or something like that", she says. Panel 2: Caleb waves her away saying, "Pfft, please! They're just making stuff up to keep us out of the beach! Panel 3: 5 minutes later, Caleb emerges from the water. Off screen he shouts, "Hey, Anna!" Panel 4: Caleb is completely a skeleton, all his flesh being melted off in the water. "I feel fresh to the bone!" he exclaims!

good for Zach and Michael. I'm sure it was a tough call but Smiling Friends isn't a show you can phone in. so much of the appeal is the constant surprises and novelty. 3 strong seasons is a good run and they'll both make more funny stuff. I hope they get to enjoy a break first.

If indie animation is gonna have any viability, I must stress that it is important to have a good producer to figure out the money and manage the production team. I will keep banging this drum because it isnt enough to have skilled artists or writers without someone who can manage resources.

I am starting a studio! We are small and scrappy and have no money. Why am I doing this? Because the only ones who can protect art are the ones who value it. Disney using AI? Yuck. Netflix buying WB? Also yuck. In 10 years what is even going to be left.

I keep seeing the “reminder don’t use Adobe here are the alternatives” image going around and folks, the problem is not just that Adobe sucks, the problem is they’re blocking legal access to decades of art files utilized by individuals and entire teams

Nearly every project I'm apart of just got their pipelines completely uprooted and left us running around helpless and confused. Not to mention 30 years of archived history completely down the drain. Beyond gutted and angry, god.

Super hoping this just means "for files that are on the cloud" because if not it's all over
