Aries: Is this the best you can do? Seriously?

the freedom to log out of minecraft is genuinely the only control you have over your life, and the only control you will ever have.

i think we should all 🦐 ourselves.

the fact that the president and powerful individuals from both parties are child rapists is all over the news. no one is going to do anything about it. it will be forgotten by this time next week. i am making $15 an hour getting screamed at by elderly white people who make 100 times my salary.

i think the fact that all of this is coming to light and we all have to just keep on slaving away while knowing nothing is going to be done, no one's going to be held accountable, and they're going to continue to steal from us with impunity has brought me closer to crashing out than anything else

also we obliterate florida with a directed energy weapon from low-earth orbit, because florida is a shithole and it has to go

one time investment to eliminate the question of "what about those who can't afford to move", give everyone the chance to get on the side they say they want to be on. then let the cards fall where they may.

i'm at the point where i genuinely believe the only way forward for the US is an amicable split between the conservatives and the progressives. ideally, there would be a 6 month period during which all US citizens are given $5000 and the opportunity to move to the side the want. after that... split

of course, the problem is that no one in power will allow their power to be voted away. that leaves us with the barbarity of pointing out that the elderly are infirm, and if they refuse to turn over control of society to the young, they must be forced. again- it feels insane. but here we are.

10.11.2025 12:34 👍 22 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0

it feels insane to me that this is where we're at, but i'm at the point where i'd support anyone running an anti-gerontocracy platform. no one above the age of 65 permitted to hold public office, a job, or a driver's license.

10.11.2025 12:30 👍 13 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0

i'm really trying hard not to let myself become some kind of ageist, but it's getting hard not to be radicalized by the fact that every aspect of my life- personal, professional, romantic, financial- has been made measurably worse by old people who cling to power and refuse to die

Enjoying this so far!

i don't mean to put too much pressure on new yorkers, but my faith in the ability of the American people to self-govern, and indeed the entire concept of the electoral system as an instrument of change, hinges on the outcome of the mayoral election. nbd. dont fuck it up.

04.11.2025 19:41 👍 7 🔁 0 💬 2 📌 0

i really don't think there's any fixing this. it's not the kind of problem you can vote your way out of, because the root problem is that Americans are now unable to self-govern. at best, you can only advocate for a benevolent caretaker... and that is a really damn dangerous way of thinking

29.10.2025 15:48 👍 7 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0

this was, of course, the entire point of the aforementioned decades of dumbing down- those efforts have now borne fruit in the form of a voting bloc that really doesn't think about much of anything, and can therefore be swayed without much effort

29.10.2025 15:48 👍 8 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0

these are not the kind of people who can be trusted to effectively cooperate toward a society that benefits all participants. they're less like thinking voters and more like herd animals that have to be guided in a direction before they can do anything at all.

29.10.2025 15:48 👍 6 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0

it's not just that the median American votes against their own interests- even an intelligent person can be duped with the right rhetoric. it's that rhetoric really doesn't have anything to do with their decision-making in the first place. there's no critical thought behind it at all.

29.10.2025 15:48 👍 5 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0

i really hate that this is becoming a recurring thought, but i'm starting to think decades of a coordinated effort to misinform the public and de-emphasize education have resulted in many (though not all!) Americans not really being equipped to participate in society, or even take care of themselves

our representation, the way we're presented on the world stage- it's so crass and incurious. we really are in the American Century of Humiliation.

18.10.2025 04:00 👍 24 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0

one of the smaller things that bothers me about the present state of affairs is that it's made being an American so embarrassing. like, it was never exactly something to be overly proud of- not in my lifetime, anyway- but now, it's so much worse. the people that represent us are humiliating.

Donate to Help Lexi Start Fresh in a New State, organized by BJ Anderson Hi everyone, I’m reaching out to ask for help on behalf of my partner, Lexi, … BJ Anderson needs your support for Help Lexi Start Fresh in a New State

my partner (who you may know as @heathenish.bsky.social) is trying to get out of Florida. we're both struggling to find consistent work right now, so we're fundraising to offset the cost of moving out-of-state as much as we can... please share our campaign around if you can

seems like a great idea to anyone with sense, but it would require marketing executives to concede that they don't know everything about the market at all times. might as well hope it rains spaghetti!

12.09.2025 15:23 👍 4 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0

this is not a case of "old people are so uncool"- this is a case of a cultural divide so vast that the drives and motivations of the new generation are essentially completely alien to the people that run our society. that's a serious problem.

12.09.2025 15:21 👍 7 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0

it sounds ludicrous to suggest this, but part of the reason that right wing extremists control the narrative so easily in traditional media is that no one in traditional media is young enough to understand the current environment of youth radicalization and how it emerged over the last 15 years.

12.09.2025 15:19 👍 9 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0

news media organizations (every organization, really) desperately need to start hiring people under the age of 35 and start putting them in decision-making positions. any organization that can't understand youth culture also lacks the ability to meaningfully report on current events

feels not great for society that no one has any money to spend on anything, but almost all the postings on most job boards are just different ways of saying "sales." employment is now begging people to buy products they don't want with money they don't have. grifter nation!

James Gunn's Immigrant Song SUPERMAN (2025) is a celebration of our best selves- and a refutation of our worst

the superman of 2025 is not of one nation, but of the world- and that's what makes him relatable. my latest:
