The second union of archaeologists in Greece taking a stance on the EAA saga. They represent the contract archaeologists, the largest sector; they call for a boycott: the majority of the local archaeological community in Greece does not support the Athens EAA meeting, under the current leadership.

And Epstein also was heavily involved in the Zionist project of using archaeology in the overtly political claim of land / deny Palestinian hist connections to place. The interconnections of his political aspirations and misuses of academia to support it, require a lot more investigation (2/2).
A very brief search though the Epstein files has some interesting insights about his interest in archaeology. It’ll take a bit to untangle his personal connections and funding initiatives but it is clear Epstein had strong interests in archaeologies of cultural evolution and environment adaption 1/2

I have added the following to my original complaint. I'm posting this because it feels important that EAA members understand the extent of what is happening as so much of it is behind closed doors. Names redacted (the irony!) because I feel forced to do so while the evidence is being withheld.
Yesterday I resigned from the EAA Appeals & Anti-Harassment Committee (AAHC) after I was targetted in what I believe was an attempt to disprupt & undermine the AAHC. Be assured, AAHC are v much committed to making EAA a safe space, despite the restrictions imposed on them by the existing statutes. 🏺

Do not submit a session to the EAA until Eszter Banffy steps down as president of the EAA after her anti-democratic actions. There has been a concerted campaign of intimidation against individual members of the board, including large numbers of threatening and defamatory emails and individual participants, groups, and student volunteers have been intimidated. Even after close documentation of her shameful autocratic actions in the press and on social media, she refuses to step down. We cannot let this happen, this is not what we stand for as a community. Many departments and institutions already decided not to participate and submit sessions after it has become clear that the EAA has not resolved its issues. Do not submit a session until Banffy steps down. If you have already submitted a session, retract it.

As a primatologist, Jane Goodall was a huge inspiration to me. I admired the way she describes chimpanzee behavior with such detail and empathy, and she’s inspired so many people and advocated for chimpanzee conservation and welfare.

#OTD 19 September 1991, walkers in the high Ötztal alps on the Italian border, found a body melting out of the ice. It turned out to be the remains of a c.5200 year old man preserved with all his kit.
Of course, it was essential to replicate him in Playmobil.

Body sherd (colours: beige; black; white encrustation) with fish bone style ornamentation towards the top and parts of a seemingly circular multi-band ornamentation with outwards facing strokes towards the bottom. Residue of white encrustations can be seen in both ornamentations.

Would anyone have pointers for the ornamentation on this (presumably) neolithic sherd? Sadly no site of origin recorded... 🏺
