The central theme being how dehumanizing silence and loneliness are, how it makes us question our very humanity, makes us question time. What is time in isolation if not the passing of the seasons? What is time if not the moments we spend connecting with others?
RE: I Who Have Never Known Men;
I think what's lingering most for me is the metaphor of "communicating" as equivalent to "existing" was used in the beginning of the book: "human beings need to speak otherwise they lose their humanity," and "talking served to make things happen. Talking is existing"

I was in Manila for over a week last week, and got to visit quite a few bookstores. Stocked up on books from local authors, and found Conversations with Friends (I've been looking for a physical copy!) from a 2nd hand bookstore.

Kulang Na Silya by Ricky Lee is a VERY close second, and i will probably hold that book closer to my heart than anything else I'll read this year, and for that, I'm glad I found the time to finally read his work.
