Excited for our new #ES&T paper! 🧂🌊 pubs.acs.org/doi/10.1021/... Seasonal ponds much saltier than lakes & rivers due to road salt pollution. Many exceed federal guidelines. Bottom water often 2x saltier than the surface. Salt lingers long after winter.

Excited to be alongside Kristin, Lexie, and Adrianne in this piece about tunicates and invasives and climate change.
Congrats to Danielle Moloney for a successful defense of her MS thesis! A within-site comparison of intertidal and subtidal populations of
Astrangia poculata. Go Apoc! Go SCSU New Haven Biology and the Werth Center!

How would you like this to be your classroom? ☀️🌿

It’s been great! Yendegaia kelp forests are fascinating! Definitely plan on coming back here!
Sub-Antarctic was fascinating! So many research questions. Left Williams & Arenas & now in Puerto Natales! Now Los Torres, more hikes, biology & world languages! Students are immersed in language, arts, culture & science of the areas! We had to do a plunge! Chic Expedition 2025, Yendegaia, Chile!😀
I’ve seen them multiple times…. We dive there very infrequently because it’s a pain to get past all those rocks. I have an intertidal site 100m away to the north that we assess every 4 months or so. I’ll think about the temp data some as that always comes in handy!
Nice work Aly! congrats again!
Hi Aly, is that picture with the drill at Bass Rock?
A woman stands in front of a classroom. On the screen is a presentation called: coastal ocean carbon cycle, and the potential role of macroalgae in removing atmospheric carbon dioxide PhD Defense of Manon Berger in front of the jury. Please join me in congratulating @manonberger.bsky.social in her successful PhD defense at @geosciences.bsky.social.
She showed that growing seaweed (macroalgae) is not an effective way to remove atmospheric CO₂. 🌊
Scientists are expected to do peer reviewing but no one tells you HOW. After talking with several folks about this today at #AGU24 , it seems a good time to link to this presentation I made several years ago -- feel free to use/share! docs.google.com/presentation...
My son James’ first collegiate track meet at Boston University today! Way to go kid! I love you and it’s great seeing your kids do something you could never do! 😀🏃 go @SCSU Owls!

Do you appreciate algae? Then here’s a starter pack for you!🧪🌊🪸
I wrote (ranted) on experimental design as I was frustrated as an editor at how little guidance students were getting. I underestimated the interest in the issue: it has been downloaded 10,000+ times! Clearly it’s something we need to be talking about more. onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10....
Hi All! Please share far and wide, come join my amazing colleagues at SCSU!

Hello everyone! I'm Ellen Martinson! I'm an assist prof at University of New Mexico. I study parasitoid wasp venom and galling insects trying to unravel the molecular mechanisms behind species interactions. I'm looking for grad students and a postdoc, so please RT (or whatever the phrase is here)
I'm working on an Urban Ecology lecture for a senior-level ecology class. Mostly focused on what affects diversity, but open to organismal stuff too. Would love to hear your fave stories or papers!
Folks, please retweet. We have 3 entry level tenure track positions available here at monash. Field ecologists and experimental ecologists of any particular habitat focus and phytoplankton ecologist. careers.pageuppeople.com/513/cw/en/jo...
