A 4th circuit panel of Republican appointees has ruled that Medicaid coverage bans on gender affirming care for adults are not unconstitutional. They cited Skrmetti 70 times in the decision. The en banc circuit court previously found it unconstitutional.

It's not about the gender marker. It's about targeting trans people and making their lives unlivable.
I wish people would come to understand transphobia as systemic, structural, and pervasive so we could stop treating transphobia as explicitly limited to people saying "I hate trans people" and accept the way our society conditions us all to dismiss, diminish, and dehumanize trans people.

BREAKING: Israel has launched a “preventative” attack against Iran, as witnesses say they have heard explosions in Iran’s capital, Tehran, according to the Reuters news agency.
An official letter from the Kansas Division of Vehicles dated February 23, 2026, with a redacted recipient address. The letter notifies the recipient that due to the enactment of Senate Bill 244, all Kansas driver's licenses and IDs must reflect the holder's sex at birth. It states that the recipient's current credential will become invalid immediately upon the law's publication on February 26, 2026, with no grace period. The recipient is directed to surrender their current ID to receive a new one matching their sex assigned at birth. The document concludes with instructions on how to appeal the notice if received in error, along with contact information for the department.
Kansas is sending letters to trans people telling them that their licenses will be revoked as of tomorrow and that they risk arrest for driving on a suspended license.
This is pure cruelty.

One of the things about our system is that there's kind of Too Much Law for anybody to keep it all straight, which is why the system depends on people acting in good faith, which falls apart when actors don't care (e.g. AI-written briefs with hallucinated cases) or are corrupt (e.g. the Trump DOJ).

People can say it’s utopian or dreamy but it’s a fact that you have to believe new things are possible, fundamentally, in order to make them real. A decade of trans advocacy has taught me people believe lies because they want to, not because they don't know they are lies. They believe trans people will regret our transition because they want us to regret our transition. They believe we are a "social contagion" because that is how they see us
