Does anyone else keep reading storm warning headlines as reports of ICE atrocities before remembering a big storm is coming? I know which one I’m more afraid of… #ICESstorm or #icestorm

Only 1 candidate in the DC Mayor's race has continually shown up for homeless folks. Her name is @janeese4dc.bsky.social
We need a mayor who will fight for all DC residents, not back down in the face of a bully or cater to the needs of the ultra-rich.

If you don't want your federal tax dollars to be used to fund Utah's Trump-inspired homeless detention camp, this call is for you.
See you on 1/29!
It's wild we have to say this, but forcing anybody into detention camps is and always will be bad.
And here’s her article, which I haven’t read yet, but am eager to.
This is a must listen from The Daily of @nytimes.com and guest the brilliant @nhannahjones.bsky.social #civilrights #dei #thenadir
This story beautifully conveys the pain and terror in our city right now as well as the many meaningful ways DC residents are standing up for our neighbors being targeted by ICE. #freedc
This is an agency Mayor Bowser welcomes into DC
We all need more Tuffys in our lives. 😍😍😍
Taking great care of our military members. Nice.
They had to use the jaws of life to get the person out. When it is a 14-16 ton military vehicle v a car, it doesn’t go well for the car. Lucky nobody was horrible injured.
Excellent explainer from @maustermuhle.bsky.social and @51st.news about what the National Guard is doing in DC right now and the legal and political issues surrounding it. #freedc
Civil Rights Attorneys, this is a great opportunity to work with an esteemed organization on urgent protection for unhoused people in DC in the wake of Trump's encampment clearings and aggressive law enforcement. #civilrights #dc #freedc
Thank you
Was hoping he would do this. #freedc
Quick legal opinion from DC’s AG calling Bondi’s EO illegal. The feds cannot take control of MPD, the Chief does not report to them, and they cannot invalidate MPD orders or direct MPD on enforcement of local laws.

It’s late. Excuse all the typos!!
The latest on the feds attempt to take over law enforcement on DC and move aggressively against undocumented immigrants andi houses people. x.com/chadgilmarti...
Send some love to any homeless services workers and advocates you know in DC right now. They are all working so hard to prevent the forced displacement, arrest, or civil commitment of hundreds of people with very little time and too few resources to do it. #dc #homelessness #housing #streetoutreach
Helpful FAQ re the rights of people living outdoors from the DC AG.
“I said no immediately because it’s like signing up for the Gestapo,” the Guard source said.

I have had this thought as well.
NEW — Video taken by a witness and shared with me tonight from DC’s Trinidad neighborhood shows FBI and Secret Service agents patrolling by foot and peering into cars with flashlights.
(Per witness, residents made fun of agents, saying they can't get women and that's why they were doing this lol)
Be safe DC!
The @51st.news is a vital local news outlet. Please contribute to help them hire these outstanding reporters as full-time staff. We need them in this incredibly turbulent time in our city!
We absolutely will!
It is outrageously unjust for renters to be deprived of water due to their landlord’s negligence.
I saw this. It’s terrible.
Unless the police have a lot of intel about something nefarious being planned around this ICE protest in CoHi, which I highly doubt, the police presence looks extremely excessive.
The ICE protesters in CoHi are a few dozen in number and totally peaceful, just standing and listening to speakers. With DC’s budget situation and the social safety net cuts happening here, I’m stunned to see this level of investment in police presence for this.
It appears that there are more police than protesters for the anti-ICE protest in Columbia Heights. It is ridiculous. Multiple units up and down 14th street and on the side streets north and south of the plaza on top of a dozen or more in and around the plaza itself.
