I am so thankful for the gift of this recognition on behalf of myself and all of the crew on Avengers Academy. We strove week after week to make art worthy of our community – to deepen and enrich the world for queer, trans, and HIV+ representation and readership, to insist we belonged in these worlds of fiction and in the world that dreams them. We wanted both to illuminate queer stories told long ago and to trailblaze new paths forward. It was not always easy, but it was always worth it. I am so proud of this work, and so honoured to have it so celebrated. Thank you. If you don't know me, you should know I'm pretty understanding when folks are forced to use this shit thru their jobs, or need to use it for accessibility, etc, but the majority of us CAN refuse and SHOULD. If you have to use it at your job, you can still not use it at home + voice your dissent.
idk, I don't use it. It's not worth it. It's frustrating as the places I can see it making the most difference offer little profit, things like research TOOLS and accessibility TOOLS, which is not the driving force, it's bs like "make email better" maybe we just say fuck email and save some water.
It's weird when I see folks talking like "I've had it! I'll not use the evil evil genAI, I'm going to use the evil genAI!" considering MOST of us have about zero real reason to use it at all and even if the company is only lightly evil, it still burns up a bunch of resources. Just stop using it.
