Everton who were on the brink of relegation at the time were the yardstick, but he was clearly issuing a warning to the Spurs hierarchy about this very scenario. Thinking they'll just 'exist' as a top half PL side because they're Spurs and have a big name. Everyone is rich and super-competitive.
Really good episode of 'the lab' with Flav and @dankp.bsky.social where they went over some of Conte's old pressers. Much as I hated AC's conduct at the time, one presser DKP highlighted was very interesting. Essentially him highlighting how the PL has changed, and the old guard need to keep up.
Rationally/logically (not sure which is more applicable really) it makes a certain amount of sense that the neglect the playing 'operation' has received and with all our best attackers injured, the club might find itself in this position... but emotionally I keep asking 'how did we end up here?'
I'll be honest, I haven't really wanted to bring my 'the sky is falling!' energy here... but I'm afraid to report that we might be cooked, folks.
