there's so much bad in the world but there's also people who lift up and carry an elderly bat around every day so he can pretend he's flying again, and that's the part of the world I think is worth fighting for

Zero power ballads in this year's #Melodifestivalen final?! WTF?!?!
I got caught up in the "we're too big to ever go down", but honestly, I think it's a massive possibility now. So weird that we're still doing so well in CL, up to now at least, but agreed, something's going down in the background.
I just can't watch anymore this season. It's embarrassing.
If anyone is friends with any Georgian air traffic controllers, buy them a nice bottle of wine. As guardians of pretty much the only narrow gap still available between Europe and Asia that avoids both Iran, the Gulf, Ukraine and Russia, they are under some substantial pressure.
Spanish PM SΓ‘nchez on Trump's threat to end trade:
"We are not going to be accomplices to something that is bad for the world and contrary to our values and interests simply because of fear of reprisals... We have absolute confidence in the economic, institutional & moral strength of our country."
Spanish PM SΓ‘nchez responds to Trump:
"Spain is against this disaster... Govts are here to improve people's lives... It is absolutely unacceptable that those leaders who are unable to fulfill that mission use the smoke of war to hide their failure, and in the process, fill the pockets of a few."
Right? She eventually forgave me.
96 hours, 2 death-defying taxi journeys with unhinged drivers, and 7 trips to the airplane bathroom due to Lord only knows what happened to my stomach just after take-off later, it was all worth it for this.
Turns out lowering bills, protecting the NHS and rebuilding our public services is really popular.
This is just the beginning - people are seeing through the attacks and demanding something better.
And we're making hope normal again - together.

Starting tomorrow, you can watch fish traffic via an underwater camera livestreaming from an Utrecht canal. If you spot waiting π, you can ping an operator to open the Weerdsluis lock gate & let them through. Highly recommend this for easing elevated stress levels, or if you just like helping fish
Spanish Prime Minister Pedro SΓ‘nchez doing what UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer has chosen not to do, criticise the US and Israel for their attack on Iran which breached international law
The costs of this Iran war debacle will likely be more than the cost of extending the ACA health insurance subsidies.
If you asked Americans, which do you want: another war in the Middle East or lower health care costs at home, is the margin 90 to 10? 95 to 5?
If America still had the rule of law, this would be the easiest prosecution ever, but we all know absolutely nothing will happen.
this is your mission. our pedophile president needs you to bomb this elementary school full of kids because he thinks it makes him look cool. also his scheming viziers will be betting money on it for fun. good luck soldier
Moral of the story? Travel with a generous friend who will sacrifice their hard-earned miles to get you home via a trip to Seoul. Fingers crossed for tomorrow.
Looks like I'm stuck in the Philippines for a while as we can't fly home this evening. Qatar Airways, understandably, can't give us any information, just that they'll be in touch, but hoping they can re-route us somehow. I really want to be home with my family now.
One last swim among the sardines before we say goodbye to the Philippines.
an account called Lorraine driver says 'It's a vote to split the Labour majority and hand it to frog face' Chris Boyd replies with 'hi lorraine I'm here as a representative of 'things that age really well or really badly' company and, well, how do you feel about the latter Lorraine: please fuck off Chris: I'll put a tick next to I've felt better'

I've really enjoyed learning to snorkel during this month away. I still get a little panicky sometimes, but I've seen a lot of improvement from only managing a few minutes here and there at the beginning to now comfortably being out for 45-60 minutes at a time.
Had a wee swim with this lil guy
Last full day in the Philippines. Sad to leave such a wonderful country, but looking forward to being home with my little family on Sunday.
An official letter from the Kansas Division of Vehicles dated February 23, 2026, with a redacted recipient address. The letter notifies the recipient that due to the enactment of Senate Bill 244, all Kansas driver's licenses and IDs must reflect the holder's sex at birth. It states that the recipient's current credential will become invalid immediately upon the law's publication on February 26, 2026, with no grace period. The recipient is directed to surrender their current ID to receive a new one matching their sex assigned at birth. The document concludes with instructions on how to appeal the notice if received in error, along with contact information for the department.
Kansas is sending letters to trans people telling them that their licenses will be revoked as of tomorrow and that they risk arrest for driving on a suspended license.
This is pure cruelty.
