Syd’s system is much more varied being the big mix of urban rail it is.

Some would definitely be more suitable as a metro or complementing one.. which is where Reece’s vid earlier would come in!

- Journey time is a mixed bag - on one hand, yeah, large trains are slow. On the other, Syd T has a number of express lines which greatly improves speed

- Richmond line (the only single track) is very low density - most outer-suburbs around London have a comparable service at best by private rail

- Aside from never getting to -7c, I agree the doors thing doesn’t really make sense for lower use stations and times

- 15 minutes seems to generally be the standard off-peak frequency for overground routes too?
And like syd trains, both achieve high frequency in interlined sections

Syd trains would be more comparable to the overground - which also lacks all of those features. Both are pretty similar in patronage, system length and areas serviced considered

When it comes to the regional rail, syd’s trains generally already do, or will soon, have all those things (except wifi)
