I figure that the only way blogging right now will work for me is if I just do it for myself.
@charlesatan.bsky.social was right: I’ll be finishing all the English volumes of the Apothecary Diaries light novel this week. I’m down to LN 14 & 15. Honestly curious what my withdrawal symptoms will be like when I’m done.

Ok, Apothecary Diaries is nice and I will likely get into the LNs bec I need to know the rest of the story, but it is also, um, slow. So fine, I shall be watching the show with the chainsaw coming out of a guy’s head.

I’m not entirely sure, as I haven’t looked at the price of fuel in each country. But it’s standard of living costs, in general. Ours is high: transpo, food, rent.

This last week, I find I have a day to finish a book before some deadline. You’d think that would result in a lot of books read in this month, yes? No, it does not.😂
I may have confirmation that I’m a cool mom. My son’s gf apparently checked out my Spotify lists (wc I honestly didn’t know you cld do), & has told my son that my musical taste is cooler than his. Yay, me.😄 On a side note, they are also offering to help me move my playlists to Apple Music.

Something about the way LLMs build in the idea that to find something out, you shouldn't read an already existing text that other people have also read (ew!); you should get fresh text generated just for you. Each time, new disposable text.
It's been my experience that many of the people who denigrate any sort of genre writing don't read much or any of it, or if they ever did, it was decades ago. It's easy to minimize what you don't read, in a market segment you don't know how to address, with an audience you won't deign to approach.
Saw a report of the marketing initiatives on display at the last Seoul Intl Book Fair, and my god, they were amazing, not expensive (mostly, I think), and fun! Hats off to the Korean pubs and organizers who came up with them.
I'd just like to point out how weird it is that places with hundreds or even thousands of reporters — the NYT, WaPo, CBS, NBC, AP, etc. — are all getting pummeled on every major story by the dozen computerboys at Wired. To fumble the bag this consistently is, at some point, cowardice and a choice.
