Toni Morrison on writing:
"I rewrite a lot, over and over again, so that it looks like I never did. I try to make it look like I never touched it, and that takes a lot of time and a lot of sweat."
Goodreads has the most elite quotes on their mobile loading page. I love them. #booksky
βWriting what you wished was the most dangerous form of wishful thinking.β - Amy Tan, βThe Bonesetterβs Daughterβ
"Emasculation is a word that doesn't exist in the feminine. It's always been a masculine concern...Masculinity is an identity that constantly has to prove itself." -Esther Perel on the idea of successful women "emasculating" men.

Bombing for peace is like burning books to promote literacy.
To bomb Iran the US deployed 7 B2 bombers, each of which cost $2.1B to build. They used 14 huge βbunker busters,β a model that cost $500 million to develop.
The US invested ~ $15 billion in this attackβalmost 50% more than it invested in affordable housing construction this year.
ββ¦Lord, I believe; help my unbelief!β - Mark 9:24 (NKJV)

βFascism is hereβ is spray painted under the bridges leading to the Ronald Reagan Washington National airport. I read the graffiti this morning while I was en route. The day has come full circle.
These checkpoints are popping up across the city after the mass ICE protests and the arrival of the National Guard. Helicopters are flying overhead as I type this. Itβs nearly midnight. They are warring against Black and Brown folks.
I just landed in Los Angeles from my DC trip and my Lyft was stopped by LAPD at a checkpoint. We had to show ID and proof of address before being allowed to continue home. The policing of our communities is ramping up overnight.
