Given the competence of our government I fear they will spend this potential surplus before summer. Use this anticipated one year surplus to further reduce taxes, prop up their donors etc. Add more to our structural deficit .....

Weather, climate change, air quality, community, gardens, photography, family. Certainly left of centre. Resident of Treaty 6 territory. My image is from a street sketch bought in Havana a few years ago. A decent likeness.

At some point, her comments are so dumb ..... there is no distinction that one is dumber than the rest. They are all lacking in any value or reflecting reality/truth. Unless we employ the old right-minus-wrong marking scheme. she just gets zero. Repeatedly.
Smith says she's cutting access to social support programs because she "heard that people were moving here just to be on social programs."
This sort of hearsay framing is a dangerous rhetorical device employed by populists. Consider Donald Trump. +
But ... it just really strengthens Smith's brand as a wannabe Trump. She even hires like him -- deadbeats and crooks.
Pierre P looks at him all the time as it makes Pierre look like a stellar speaker.
My question -- do we ever see who he was speaking to?? he has given press conferences to empty lands in Canada before ....
"give" being the operative word -- Canada needs to produce and ship LNG for less than what comes from the mideast or Australia. A tall tall order.
Right now, China is building nuclear plants at half or less the cost of a CANDU for equivalent power. We can't compete.
Yeah. Like is that hospital ship nearly in Greenland now?? What he says only becomes real if SOMEONE in the administration is actually committed to it. Otherwise they just let his brain farts disperse into the atmosphere -- hoping the smell goes away.
It is a cost Trump is willing to have the taxpayers bear. Just like tariffs. He is quite OK with increased costs for his citizens .... although he will lie his way around it.
If the United States is going to go around the world causing regime changes, we should practice here first.

Just a pet peeve .... many times the word "energy" is used when really the topic is "fossil fuel energy." At least by the examples shown as included within each section, other forms of energy (hydro, wind, solar, nuclear, geothermal) seem likely to not be covered.

Conservatives need to learn to say βYes and β¦β. Embrace the good with Yes and then add to it with recommendations for improvement. βYes β¦ this is quite consistent with what we said. AND our policy has concrete proposals for how this could be much better.β
Narrator: the Premier never took responsibility and the majority of the electorate never demanded it. Premier Smith said "We are amazed at how 4 years of NDP leadership ruined this once great province. All our ideological and grifting gems have not been able to recover from that damage."
Maybe he is actually too good for what that βpaperβ has become.
Perhaps not many unique grievances ..... but I do think the national leadership of the federation has not particularly demonstrated great leadership for a federation. We have had a sequence of PM's (Trudeaus, Harper) who have too quickly abandoned a federal approach for an imposed solution.
Every week the US government gets closer to a true fascist state resolved to protect the rich and the pedophiles. And white skin helps too. Donβt look away. See them for what they are.

We really need to come to grips with the fact that thereβs not going to be legitimate midterm elections with this administration still in power. They know what comes next for them and will do anything to retain power. They need to be removed before the midterms.
This is the danger: unpopularity doesnβt moderate an authoritarian, it accelerates him. When power becomes personal survival, the country turns into collateral damage and restraint has to come from institutions, not hope.
Mark this under things Trump and his minions canβt understand - doing real things for principles and giving up real things for those principles.
Heraskevychβs choice to forfeit the medal chance instead of give up the memorial helmet is the biggest story in Ukraine today. Everyone is heartbroken but there is a unanimous consensus that this was what had to happen rather than to give up.
