Churches irrationally favor people who bless themselves, their male privilege, their status over women/Black/LGBTQ people, and their sadistic and predatory instincts. Clans follow brutal leaders who exploit, take, or destroy what doesn't belong to them.

Idk I guess homophobia is associated with sexual predators and sex trafficking but I still don't see the links.

I guess in times of economic depression labor trafficking and sex trafficking expand.

Conversion therapy intentionally shames its counselees into blaming themselves, much as oligarchs use powerful churches to shame the poor into blaming themselves.

People who use shame to maintain their own power and prosperity are bound to normalize and accept sexual abuse and exploitation.

Finally coming to terms I'm gay and it's not a phase and that I can't force attraction to girls no matter how hard I tried

it helped I had friends who helped me come to terms with it even if it was essentially me being in a glass box

Not to mention the treatment that queer people are "broken" and they "needed to be fixed", my own dad bringing up conversion therapy when I first came out as bi, watching athiestic content on Youtube about religion deconstruction in a non-condenscending way
