Would love to give it a read if you do end up writing it!
Thanks man π«
Also make sure you're training up your hips, glutes, and lower abs. I found out that I've got a pretty big hole in my workout routine that led to some core instability.
Got an MRI and found out that I have a L5-S1 disc protrusion, and that's why my back's been wrecking me.
It's gonna be a long road to recovery with physical therapy, but at least I finally know what the problem is.
Game devs: don't sit at your desk for hours without getting up, it's not worth it.
Dear God, you've really been breaking new ground in the "Crimes Against Humanity" design space.
No notes, keep it up!
Slapped together some Zatarain's gumbo with sausage and celery. Real rookie stuff, I gotta make a roux and do a proper cook next time I've got a free day.
I'm obsessed with levels designed to work within a cohesive architectural theme, it's not an easy thing to do well.
Mark your calendars, #DobbelDungeon will be releasing next month, February 16th π²βοΈ
Check out our new trailer!

excuse me what the FUCK are they doing verifying that kind of shit go report that account
Between this and the longer documentaries, I love how open you guys are about your development process.
I'm writing a Dark Souls 2 article for RPS and I'm looking for a few quotes from game devs / designers to contextualize its reputation... is Dark Souls 2 the best or worst designed? good-weird or bad-weird? why? replies open
It's a fascinating game to dissect from a design perspective, I've been enjoying the discussion.
They never explicitly tell you that these areas are meant for co-op in game, so I think anybody not keeping up with the pre-release press simply didn't know.
Some interesting lessons on framing and setting player expectations to take away from this imo.
One bit I find curious is the DLC challenge areas. I recall early interviews claiming that these areas were balanced around co-op. They even placed summon areas before each one.
And yet they have a notoriously bad reputation for being absolutely BS, largely from players attempting to solo them.
It feels the most like pre Demon Souls Fromsoft games imo. The whole thing has this bizarre, experimental energy that never lets up.
Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. I think that the DLC is some of the best and most inventive level design work Fromsoft has done, though
Thoughts and prayers
Have fun, drink water and get up every hour. The best thing you can do for your art is to also take care of yourself βοΈπ

Highly recommend Danielle, her illustration work is absolutely top shelf!
I once had to consult a QA coworker who used to work for Bethesda to figure out how to get my save to stop crashing any time I tried to leave New Vegas
Pro Tip: advancing the in game clock 3 days clears out a lot of nonsense.

painting on canvas of a bald man in a yellow shirt throwing a pinecone at ET's head. a group of people also wielding pinecones are gathered behind him, becoming more shadowy and inhuman the further back they are. the sky is a sickly yellow colour, taking place at an unclear time of day
painting of ET getting pelted with pinecones i did a few years ago
I still like the game. I just wonder how many of these choices were made intentionally for varying the tension, versus just running out of time for balancing/iteration.
Yeah Demon's Souls just kinda doesn't give you shortcuts sometimes, I can't find a rhyme or reason to it.
Some easy bosses have tons of shortcuts, and some notoriously tough ones have worse runbacks than anything in Dark Souls. It's bizarrely inconsistent.
Metroid Prime 4 is the Skyward Sword of the series
- Plays it too safe and does it worse than before
- Too linear and guided
- Annoying NPC who keeps telling you what to do
- Introduces a cool new mode of transport to navigate an empty pointless open world
- A weaker entry, but not a bad game
"Yeah, I hear you, but-"

Void Sols. Currently $10 on sale.
Top-down soulslike with abstract shapes for your characters/enemies. Honestly feels really good to play.
