I'm awaiting a comment from @adriannixon.bsky.social about Iridium Nanotubes ! They exist, but I can't find any reference to them being especially strong...

The authors describe self-consistent scenarios for future Earth technospheres as analogs for extraterrestrial technospheres....

Dec-25 [1] : A paper by Colin Snodgrass describes how the ESA Comet Interceptor can provide a conceptual basis for a future mission to visit an Interstellar Object

Our Virtual #SpaceElevator Conference this year is on Sept 12th & 13th, again spread over two days and scheduled so people worldwide can join us at times that suit them.
If you have an idea to share, submit your abstract before June 1st : for more info go to www.isec.org/events/isec2...
This is the first of the events we just posted about, we'll be there !
The Interstellar track sounds great, we hope it doesn't clash with our #SpaceElevator session
Do you have a #SpaceElevator concept to share ? There are THREE events this year now accepting abstracts, you could talk at 1, 2 or all !
ISDC, Jun, USA : www.isec.org/events/isdc2...
ISEC, Sep, on-line : www.isec.org/events/isec2...
IAC, Oct, Turkey : www.isec.org/events/77th-...

Board of Peace - Season 1
Here's some nice artwork.
Yes, this would work well in LEO, but would be even better at the Space Elevator GEO station, avoiding the long (2 week?) journey to the Apex for a slingshot to the Moon...
Here's a controversial talk with the latest news on QI theory.
Does it explain many space anomalies, derive G & allow propellant-free thrust ... or were they right to expunge it from Wikipedia ?
Watch to the end for details of the latest test results, in labs and in space.

Worried about the next 12 months?
Fear not. I am delighted to present, in association with the mighty @dailystar, my predictions for 2026. And I think you might be pleasantly surprised⦠Happy new year! CB
βWe know that no one ever seizes power with the intention of relinquishing it. Power is not a means; it is an end. One does not establish a dictatorship in order to safeguard a revolution; one makes the revolution in order to establish the dictatorship.β

Great ! What are the rings of lights in the Pacific ?
Here's a great animation, the ring is well below GEO so would be rotating fast relative to the surface, even if equatorial ... but it could be at any inclination.
The suspended tethers wouldn't reach the atmosphere, but could perhaps be accessed by suborbital launches for a rapid payload transfer.
I must look at his earlier Space Elevator videos as well.
BTW, his 10 year timeline for Graphene in concrete may be a little pessimistic, unless he means the majority worldwide ... I was shown a parking area of Graphene Concrete by @adriannixon.bsky.social last summer outside GEIC in Manchester !
Photo of Robert Heinlein and quote ... "The capacity of the human mind for swallowing nonsense and spewing it forth in violent and repressive action has never yet been plumbed."
I just found this old blog by @davidbrin.bsky.social about Robert Heinlein, an interesting read ...

Our Dec2025 #SpaceElevator (SE) newsletter is extra-long this month, with material by @adriannixon.bsky.social , @pteerr.bsky.social and many more.
Read for info on presentations, materials, design verification, history, 'SE in the movies' and much more...

Thanks to @adamsspaceresearch.bsky.social for his contribution to the discussion on this, and for his thoughts on how we could perhaps intercept the comet in the future.
An excellent explanation of a puzzling phenomenon, with a bonus of being presented by someone who talks fast enough !
You can find all the numbers, and much more, at www.isec.org ... it's technically feasible, given a strong enough material for the tether.
Yes, they put one on Trantor at the start of Foundation ... it looked good, but it wasn't in Asimov's original novel.
Agreed, SF for now, but the necessary strong material is promised soon. I'm not sure about the lunar elevator ... yes, it could use existing materials (just), but would be very long, massive and with limited capacity, so not logistically viable. Mars might be better...
#ArtAdventCalendar day 20. Already!
Here's an animation of a space elevator. Made with #Blender3d because of course.
