people need food and they need rent money. that has not changed.
To be clear, the demand is:
Get out of Minneapolis
Do not go anywhere else
Disband them
Prosecute all the crimes
And most importantly
GIVE US BACK OUR NEIGHBORS
The biggest risk in this moment is something sociologists call “symbolic compliance.”
That’s when an institution that is violating civil rights gives the public just enough symbolic victories that accountability efforts lose steam before there has been any meaningful change.
An appropriate reaction to the federal government attacking a WHOLE STATE -- murdering, disappearing, brutalizing, kidnapping our neighbors isn't to just haggle over the funding for one agency. It's to stop all business as usual until this ends.
To be clear, I want ICE the fuck out of my city. I do not want them then going to someone else’s city, ever.

Alex was a kindhearted soul who cared deeply for his family and friends and also the American veterans whom he cared for as an ICU nurse at the Minneapolis VA hospital. Alex wanted to make a difference in this world. Unfortunately, he will not be with us to see his impact. I do not throw around the ‘hero’ term lightly. However, his last thought and act was to protect a woman. The sickening lies told about our son by the administration are reprehensible and disgusting. Alex is clearly not holding a gun when attacked by Trump’s murdering and cowardly ICE thugs. He had his phone in his right hand and his empty left hand is raised above his head while trying to protect the woman ICE just pushed down, all while being pepper sprayed. I don’t know, peeps, but I just keep coming back around to the idea that what so many people want is a hopeful vision of a better world, with autonomy, dignity, & respect for all, affordability of food/shelter, education, medical care, clean air/water, & a place in a community. That’s the message.
