No because when politics deals with significant questions of rights and personhood it’s incredibly important to align on those kind of issues. Some smaller issues I can deal with differences but the major important things are important to me to agree upon

I would not require them to agree with me on, like, the specific tax rate for capital gains, but most political things that matter go to a person's central values. Like, I'm not dating someone who disagrees with me about who should or should not have basic human rights.

I was vegetarian when I met my partner, but became vegan and started to feel strongly about animal rights about five years in. And we're still together. So I guess maybe? But it's been a source of tension at times to the point where it we were to ever break up, I wouldn't date a non-vegan again.

I am married to a man with whom I have political differences. However, we are alike in our beliefs on civil and human rights. To us, politics is *how* we legislate and fund the protection/enforcement of civil rights, not if people should have the right to bodily autonomy or marriage or due process.

No, for any serious adult, politics aren't just aesthetics and a nice pastime, but rather, the clearest expression of your ethics and perception of reality in practice.

If you are actually willing to compromise on your values at all in that regard, then you do not actually have any values.

I don't understand how people do it. Tons of liberal women I know willingly dated conservative men, and it's all well and good until kids enter the conversation and you realize you actually have deeply different values (and uh intelligence)
