Part of a large glacial granite rockface.The rock is primarily grey, with a rough, textured surface. Patches of light green lichen are visible in various spots.Besides the main central crack, several other smaller, straighter fracture lines intersect the rock face, dividing it into distinct blocks.The main crack is non-uniform in width and shape, described in climbing contexts as a "blobby crack". Debris, such as dried pine needles, has collected within the lower part of this fissure.

A astrophotography image of the famous Great Orion Nebula, in the constellation of Orion. A link to a Wikipedia article in the comments of this post. The glowing nebulosity of this deep sky object is very roughly in the shape of a misshapen bubble leaning to the upper left. The overall color of the outer nebula is a pale greenish blue, becoming a pale red toward it's interior. Complex fillamentary structure of the gas and dust in the nebula is both reflecting, and emitting strong light from the hot young stars the illuminate it from it's brilliant core just below center. And below the core is an area of dense dust that blocks the light, with some lesser areas of nebulosity adjacent. Throughout the image are many brilliant stars, most of which are actually not part of the nebula, but in the foreground nearer to the Earth.
