よくオススメしてる名著『ダーウィンの呪い』(講談社現代新書) がkindle日替わりセールにきてるよ(499円)
ダーウィンが提唱した「進化論」は自然科学に革新をもたらした。一方、政治や文化や思想に甚大な影響を及ぼした進化論は、「優生思想」という悪魔を解き放つことにもなった。
優生思想の余波は「しょせんこの世は適者生存」とかなんとか、「ダーウィンもこう言ってる！」みたいな雑な語りによって今も世にはびこる。
中盤はやや内容が専門的だが、明快かつ力強い言葉で「なぜ差別が間違っているのか」を科学者が語る最初の1章と最後の2章（11、12章）だけでも読んでみてほしい

あ、今回は私はファーストじゃないんですよね。ファーストの研究者の方の所属の規定で他学の学生は入れられないということでした。指導教員など東北大側の教員が入っているわけではないので、万一何かあった時に責任取れないよということだと解釈しました。

共著の論文が出ました。高山帯の標高2,700m地点にガビチョウがいたよ、という報告です。これまでの侵入の状況など文献調査を担当しました。徐々に高標高地域へ分布を広げているようです。

とてもわかります。持参サンプルシートを読み込ませるんだったかマニュアルシーケンスすればいいのか…とか思い出しながらやったのでスタートが遅くなりました。
街中の片平キャンパスでMiSeqラン。1年に1回くらいしかやらないので毎回「これでいいんだっけ？」と不安になります。
先週末は鳥類学若手の会久しぶりの対面イベント「論文合宿@都市大」でした！論文も進んでディスカッションも捗ってとてもよかったです。参加されたみなさんありがとうございました&お疲れ様でした。

シギ・チドリ類を指す言葉が、イギリス英語圏でwader、アメリカ英語圏でshorebirdに分かれてるのであります。ちなみにイギリス英語圏では胴長はなんていうのかと思って、去年オーストラリアの研究者と調査した時によく聞いてみたら普通にwader bootsでした。
