Hope is such a darling trait when it comes to Via.
Thatβll cost you 576 genomes, please
Wait, what?
Congrats to both of you. The GRS is in good hands.
For those who saw this earlier, make sure to follow the most recent additions! For those who'd missed it, follow all these amazing folks!
This was such a great meeting this year, thanks to everyone who organized and attended, already looking forward to the next one!
One week left to submit your abstract to @microbiologysociety.org meeting on βUnderstanding and Predicting Microbial Evolutionary Dynamicsβ at Liverpool 26-27 November
Lots of spaces for ECR talks and posters!

Still evolving after all these years. Thanks for making this an amazing meeting - outstanding science and incredible people. Awesome. @lcatherines.bsky.social @mikeblazanin.bsky.social @drhhnz.bsky.social and Christina Burch.
You wouldnβt be able to check it anyway - I dropped the analysis (to which I suspect you are referring) in the second edition cuz your excellent points made me rethink the whole thing and, in the end, there wasnβt sufficient data. So there!
I wonβt take it personally. At least this year there *is* a display copy
It maybe a joint project @bjesseshapiro.bsky.social ?
I couldnβt do any better than Aleeza I suspect.
With thanks the Cheryl Andam www.albany.edu/biology/facu... for the opportunity to collaborate.
And are hopefully now corrected (trying to feverishly remember if the edits were done)
It, um, turned out that (some of) the published calculations were incorrect.
Application review for the 2025 Gordon Research Conference on Microbial Population Biology begins on Jan 20. Maximize your chance of acceptance and $ support by submitting your application with a poster abstract before that date! Details: www.grc.org/microbial-po...
If youβve ordered the book (thank you for doing so) and not yet received it in a reasonable amt of time (like, youβve been waiting months rather than weeks) please DM me. Iβm sorry for the delay. Apparently an issue with supply chains, of all things.
Oh Iβm so sorry, Danna! Echβ¦you deserve the credit
Hard copies, finally. What little things tell us about evolution and biodiversity. Thanks to Chris Griffin for the cover. Check out his work at www.christophergriffin.ca
Not that anyone here wants my views on SARS-CoV-2 origins, but just in case, letting experts like @eddieholmes.bsky.social and the f'ing DNI speak on this:
1. www.annualreviews.org/content/jour...
2. www.dni.gov/files/ODNI/d...
(as opposed to crazy 8chan stuff and sloppy op-editors)
What little things tell us about big questions (in biology). New edition of βExperimental Evolution & the Nature of Biodiversityβ out today. global.oup.com/academic/pro...
Registration and abstract submission for the 3rd Joint Congress (@eseb.bsky.social @sse-evolution.bsky.social @asn-amnat.bsky.social, SSB) on Evolutionary Biology is now open!

Condolences, Dan. May his memory be a blessing.
Using little things to answer big questions. Second edition of Experimental Evolution and Nature of Biodiversity due out in April 2024 from OUP. Thanks to Chris Griffin www.christophergriffin.ca for the cover.
Hey @noahhoupt.bsky.social youβre in the news!
Can spatial subdivision of a population accelerate adaptation? Yep. Check out our new study with @ppc_bio & @BiophysicsFL for more details: doi.org/10.1093/evle... @EvolLetters
Rees here. Evolutionary biologist with a focus on microbes. I also do things at the science-society interface. In Montreal and Ottawa, with a toe in BC
