I should have noted that the Hedonic Treadmill applies to most forms of suffering. I am not saying that suffering doesn’t exist. This just might help a little bit. It helped me. ✨

This is what happens after you partake in highly rewarding activities beyond the usual expectations. THIS is why people experience post vacation and post convention depression. I truly hope this is useful. All I have ever wanted to do is offer insight that might help people. I am all-one. Namaste~ 🌱

I just wanted to share this thing I made. It visualizes Hedonic Adaptation. The yellow line shows the state of being throughout the week. The key thing here is to understand that it is cyclic by nature. What goes up must come down. But what goes down must also rise back up. I didn’t understand this.

The climb up a mountain is relatively difficult, the reward for the pain of that climb is the beautiful view at the top; the consequence of that pleasure is the climb back down. Granted the walk down the mountain will be easier, less painful; less of a reward at the bottom. Still a reward however. 🏔️

When it comes to the Phrase:
“Pleasure is the Reward for Pain; Pain is the Consequence for Pleasure.”
