The mixtape nobody asked for — delivered on Orthodox Christmas. I’m gifting you this religious experience of noise: saturated sound for saturated minds, ambient, improv, experimental; the best possible way to make your ears bleed and find solace in that unruly spirit called SOUND.

Thrilled to welcome @marjaahti.bsky.social back to Stockholm on Sunday 23 November to conclude our concert series at Yeshin Norbu for 2025. For this occasion Marja will present new live works for quadraphonic speaker array.
"Fluctuating Streams was originally composed by Marja Ahti in 2020 as an electro-acoustic piece. In 2024, in collaboration with Blutwurst, the piece was 'translated' / re-arranged for acoustic instruments."

For @thequietus.com, I wrote about @marjaahti.bsky.social's new album of delicate yet voluminous electroacoustic explorations (out on @johnchantler.bsky.social's Fönstret). Gorgeous stuff.
Marja Ahti has an exquisite pair of electroacoustic compositions for you. Sharper high frequency tones move like fine linework, with their smooth curved gestures complimenting the paths taken by complex timbres opening up new dimensions of movement. It's phenomenal!
Sound artist-composer Marja Ahti offers enigmatic pieces that explore and enhance the elemental qualities of sound in nature, or by acoustic instruments, and how these sounds can create their own organic sonic ecosystem. My review for Percorsi Musicali: www.percorsimusicali.eu/2025/09/12/m...
My new album Touch This Fragrant Surface of Earth is out today via Fönstret @edition-festival.com
Massively happy and grateful for how this turned out, with the sincere efforts of everyone involved. The cover art is by Finnish artist Maija Luutonen.

Marja Ahti & Manja Ristić balance a rich soundworld atop a highwire, delicately distributing the motion so that it never tips, operating in a crystal clear air that hides nothing while also conveying the full weight of emptiness, honoring the majesty of the moves that carve into it with substance.
into year 27 of Erstwhile, I still love the feeling of releasing newly arrived titles into the wild. these two just arrived, looking and sounding gorgeous, both shipping now.
