The most memorable part of the song was the ethereal background vocals. Stewart spent weeks recording Gouldman, Godley, and Creme singing "ahhh" 16 times for each note of the chromatic scale, forming a choir of 48 voices. The band’s pursuit of perfection led to an earworm and a timeless song.
