I agree. This article is incomplete from that perspective, and also from the perspective of people of colour. The article was originally a thread I did last year, so I only spoke about my own experiences. There is definitely scope for a bigger article on this.

I’ve had my Autism diagnosis for a while, but the more I look at them, the more I realise Autism isn't the only thing operating in my head. The ADHD picture is finally coming into focus. 2/2

The neurodivergent roots in this family tree go deep. My two nieces (30s & 40s) are diagnosed ADHD, and our youngest is being assessed for AuDHD this year. 1/2

Disabled by design. Your daily reminder that all these children and young people are being failed. These numbers are going to continue to rise. Is this deliberate? One thing about “mainstreaming” is it’s cheaper.

Now, at 53, and especially after realising I’m neurodivergent, I’ve truly found myself in words. Verbally, I often can't express myself this way, but writing has given me a voice I never thought I’d have. 3/4

My way of thinking and putting things together isn't "normal." Over the years, I realised I naturally seek patterns in words. I started by copying the styles of other writers, mimicking those around me to find my footing while I found my own voice. 2/4

I want to make this clear: I didn’t have a learning difficulty.
I couldn’t read or write properly at 9. I left school at 15 with the education of an 11yr old. I was classed as "remedial" or "slow" but my brain was just wired differently. 1/4
